Maestro Peas

Planted maestro Peas couple weeks ago. 2" high now and doing well.
The seed pack states this variety produces 30" vines, can be grown with or without staking.
Debating if I should stake or not. Wondering if a high wind could blow them over or not. Has anyone grown this variety before or any recommendations on staking these or not. Would like to here what members would recommend for this variety Maestro Peas in zone 7a.

I haven't grown maestro peas, but have grown various other pea varieties and I have tried it both ways. I've built structures for the peas to climb and also just let them climb each other into a big heap! It doesn't seem to make a difference as far as food output goes, but they are definitely prettier if they are neatly climbing a trellis!

Update Maestro Peas,
First time planted 4/29/24 and today the crop is 4" high.
Probably could have planted another row in between these two rows, but maybe next time.
Haven't pinched them or staked them yet. Guess it will be soon now.
Just have to figure when the right time is. Hope I'm doing ok as it is my first time.

You likely could still sow another row down the middle. If you have seed remaining I would go for it!

I have more seeds maestro peas and bush bean blue lake 274.
Guess I could sow either one down the middle I think.
I have the peas planted every 3" 24" apart.
The pea package recommends thinning every 6" at 6" tall.
Maybe to keep from being to crowed and better air flow.

i wouldn't plant the beans in the middle of the peas as they'll get overgrown if the peas get very tall.

Drive stakes or T-posts at the end of the row. Run string between the posts about 4” apart for the peas to climb on. When they are done, cut the string loose, roll up and bag for the trash. It pull string out and compost the vines.

Do you pinch your maestro peas back when 4-6" tall?
If so, guess I would pinch where I put the red X.
