Mahaw Jelly

anyone know anything about Mahaw jelly? Where to find mahaws, how to make it....basically anything. Im wanting to buy or make it to have at our produce stand. Thanks!

Look for mayhaws in Southern swampy areas and feshwater bayous. there are lots of them in the Texas/Louisiana border bayous but they can be found in lesser number farther North. I think Georgia is about the farthest North I've ever seen a good stand of them. At one time whole families used to go out in flat bottomed boats and make a fun day out of harvesting enough to put up for the year but like anything else this day and age they are slowly getting crowded out by urban sprawl and draining of swamps.
The jelly is made the same way as almost any fruit. A cherry jelly recipe should work fine.
