Does anyone know if you can order plants online that are bigger than 2 inches? I was hoping to get to town and buy some vines, but had to cancel my trip. It's $200 in fuel to get there so I can't just go for plants. Any suggestions of who to order from? I was wanting to get some honeysuckle, clematis and trumpet vine.

I know I've see a few places with decent size plants via mail order. Did you look at places like Parkseed. com and Gurneys???

Honeysuckle, and trumpet vine are extremely invasive. You can get a plant from a reputable grower. They are slow to grow until they go crazy.

I don't have that problem here on the desert. The only thing here that is invasive is sage brush! I just hate paying 2 gallon prices for a 2" plant, I can't afford to drive to a nursery this spring. Darn it! :barnie

Too bad I dug and threw away my trumpet vine volunteers-early spring.
I would have sent you a load of them for free. I will check to see if I missed any.

I don't quite understand your question, Petey. Are you saying that you aren't happy with the size of plants you have purchased before and need ideas on new sources? If so, you may be asking about big plants that might be the stock and trade of some companies and I'm not sure about that.

Very seldom do I order perennial plants. Mostly, I grow perennials from seed - like some Rudbeckia that are in the greenhouse this year. There's a chance that I might get something from Jung's, kind of on an impulse. Sometimes, perennial herb plants are ordered from Richters but they won't help you with those vines, I don't believe. Harris is always sending me their "plug catalog" hoping that I'll order plants by the flat but - I resist.

There have been good reports about perennial plants from Bluestone Perennials and High Country Gardens. Many long-time gardeners have been buying things from those 2 for years. High Country is in Santa Fe.
