I have this tiny raised bed at the end of the drive. I have a rose on one side, and rosemary at the other. In between I have cabbage that will be done soon. So I have a couple of scattered carrots, they'll also be done soon (I hope) and I just put in some shelling peas.

To utilze space I planted them in rows come north to south, and if you can see in the picture, I ran some string to get them to grow up to the fence. Some in the back will go right up the fence, but the others will need the string. They'll kind of 'fan' was the grow.

Hubby thinks I'm crazy... I'm just trying to be thrifty and use my space as well and full as possible.

Here's another spot near the drive that will have peas as well. They'll just grow on that rusted trellis for now.

We so love peas! :drool

Oh yeah! Gotta use what space you can. Hubby and I are getting creative. One growing bed involves using the metal mesh from an old stripped down box spring and an old toilet! :D

You hafta use all the space available to you. I have been eyeballing every inch of our yard, trying to figure out where we can plant all the seeds that we have. DW is thinking about moving or removing some of her perennials to make more space.

Wow collector, that is one dedicated veggie farmer you got for a wife there! I'm blessed with plenty of space, but if I wasn't I would be hard pressed to give up my perennials ;)

It is not hard to convince her to grow more food and less flowers, she goes grocery shopping once per week and when I get home she says I wouldn't believe how much it costs. We have always grown a few veggies every year, this year we want to put most of our effort into it.
