Math Question About Age

This passed birthday I turned 52. Last night a friend gave me a birthday card, in it he wrote " your 6 decade of life". I pointed out I was only 5 decades old, they insisted it was 6. We had a big augment over it, who is right?

These collective nouns are tricky, NyBoy. This is especially true as we age and everything becomes more confusing ... even the differences between waking and sleeping.

In some cultures a child is one year the day they are born, in some we wait a year before they are one. In some things we start counting by saying one, in some things we start counting by saying zero. This stuff can get tricky.

To add to the confusion ...normal human gestation is 9 +/- months long from conseption to exiting from the uterus at the birth process.
