I am probably going to be getting 10-20 Jap Quail the day after tomorrow.

Babies? Baby quail chicks are the cutest things--just a tiny black powderpuff with little matchstick legs!

Just a warning if you've never had quail before, they're even dumber than chicks. Mine drowned themselves in a baby food lid of water. There was no more than an eighth of an inch of water in that darn thing...

I think that's why they make the baby chick feeders so that they have to reach. Sorry about your chicks, anyway. Could you use a chick feeder/watered with a 1/4" mesh over the openings?

They were too short to reach into the chick waterer (is that even a word?), plus it was much deeper than the baby food lid and I was worried about them drowning in it. I don't think quail are in my future, chickens are enough trouble.
