I live in zone 7 maybe zone 8..
Depends on who you talk to or what map you look at

I planted Mexican Petunias last year and they did great. But now they are brown and look a little mucky.
Is this what they do over the winter? I didnt mulch them :hide

Could they re-seed themselves?
My dad has some planted at the bottom of his drive and they came back this year but Im not sure if it was from the same plant or seeds that had dropped..

Do I have a chance of them coming back?

They are suppposed to be invasive. Do a search there was a whole thread with Ron (I miss him) and me. I had some that never invaded or never did much. I ended up taking them out to put a rose bush.

Mexican Petunia - Ruellia brittoniana is an invasive species in FL wetlands and similar situations.

There are many types of Ruellia - if you like them you could possibly check into growing a native species for your area...

I'm hoping to get some R. humilis at our local plant exchange in May ... I just missed em last year, but a friend said she would bring more ... :ya
