Wow,

It is a Potato-leaf variety. Is it Brandywine? One of my favorite. The flower of the Brandywine has many more petals and so appears to be like a fluffly sunburst. They are mostly minimal fruit producers, but, the fruit is divine! It is even ugly, but, divine! The plant can become a monster. I once heard that you manage a beast like this by beating it with a stick, LOL, literally. I think the idea was to stress the plant into forming fruit for fear of Mrs. Farmer and her stick.

Did I mention I love Brandywines?

I have two right now in my garden.

I cannot wait until Tomato Season!

:clap :clap That is a HUGE tomato plant compared to the others next to them. Looks like you'll have good yield from that plant.
Looks great vfem!!!

Oh yes... I have 3 Bonnie plant I had to buy since those 3 spots the tomato plants I started from seed died. The Bonnie plants are Mr. Stripey and (yes, the monster plant) is a brandywine. It claims to be a PINK so we'll see! :weee

So far there are at least 13 to my count of tomatoes that are formed and big enough to see. There are also some flowers that look to be shriveling... they may be forming tomatoes... I'll know in a few days.

I just wanted to make sure it was some weird tomato disease... like elephantitise or something?! LOL

i usually buy in peppers and tomatoes because its hard for me to start them, and everything else gets started in the soil. we just got the heritage beefsteaks and plums for spaghetti sauce and that.

We had giant tomatoes last year, check these out! This photo was taken in June of last year.

In all fairness, I didn't know to pinch out the growing tip. I'm doing that this year and my tomatoes are much better behaved and more compact. I also planted the majority of the stem underground, which has made for really sturdy plants.
I need to get an updated photo of this year's tomatoes! I think I might have my first red cherry tomato tomorrow! :weee
