Thought you might enjoy a few pictures of some of my geraniums and vincas (I think?) Just couldn't let them die in the frost and freezes last Fall. I work on my computer upstairs and glance over to see this~

Here are a few of my 15 indoor geraniums. I've learned that if they flower indoors they won't next year, but I don't care. I've mastered growing and transplanting them. Several of these are about 2 years old, now.

Try to see the strawberry plant to the left, just peaking out. I'll have to take a picture of this, bc I think it has a couple of flowers on it.

When I potted them for the winter I tried to match root size to pot size. ALSO, they are doing wonderfully in front of my upstairs bedroom "suicide" windows, but I had trouble over-wintering them next to my basement windows. I ended up over-watering them THERE, but upstairs the dry out nicely inbetween monthly waterings.

My grandmother always recycled her geraniums by pulling them up, shaking off the dirt and hanging them upside down in the woodshed, then in spring repotting them. They grew!

The pink are impatiens. I brought a red impatien back for about 10 years. Cut both way back in the spring or when they get lanky. They will bush out beautifully. keep you eye out for bugs.

So many things I wanted to get up before frost and bring in and total missed the moment to have them with me in the office. So I'm jealous! :D Gorgeous!

When you trim the impatiens stick the trimmings into the soil. They will root very easily and you will get more for your money. HAHAH Free.

Thanks catjac, I WILL try that.
Thanks, vfem--here's the story. It all comes down to my middle daughter's wedding, April 2, 2011. I was wrapped up in THAT at the beginning of garden season and the impatiens that were repotted once never made it into the ground. They were such good little soldiers that I hated to see them die. I think I bought them on clearance, 6/$1.00 .
With my daughter moved out DH and I have taken over her bedroom and the other 2 upstairs bedrooms. Her old bedroom is our new computer/sewing room. We have a computer hutch, a tv/DVD table, a CD/DVD/other cabinet, a sewing dresser (North side of the room), and on the south I have 1 small rectangular 2-chair kitchen table, an old singer single stitch that drops down in it's own cabinet (closed & lamp on top) and an old, wooden card table, a White and a serger. Also the ironing board and 2 irons are upstairs. We can both hang out upstairs and play and leave our toys out, lol!
Our youngest daughter is away at Law School, eldest moved out 5 years ago. All 3 bedrooms, north facing, east facing and south facing have their own selection of geraniums and other plants in front of the windows. We call them "suicide windows" bc they literally open at floor level! It makes for good indoor plants. EVEN THOUGH I read that if my geraniums flower inside in the winter they won't flower this Spring, I don't care bc I'd like to propogate them for my vegetable beds. They were all in flower when they came inside. Some of them have stopped flowering. Don't think I'll hang them upside down retiredwith4acres bc my outbuildings are used all year round and I think I'd freeze them. :/ They've certainly helped this blah winter pass better for me.
Does anybody know--are white geraniums helpful with pest removal?

I have never heard that geraniums will not bloom after winter bloom. Cut them way back if they are not in bloom and fertilize.

I'll sniffle as I cut them back. Seriously, if I can root the cuttings they're going in my vegetable beds. I LLLOOOOOVVVVEEEE red geraniums!! Here are some more indoor shots that I took this morning.

DH assured me that he'd help with this year's harvest--at Least the tomato harvest. I found this little goody at Meijer, a Midwest food/other store (like a Super-WalMart) It's called a "Garden ATV". Here is the box:
