My boys are composting !!!

Last year I got my first hot compost pile and I was so excited. I ended up with two descent size piles and actually used one of the piles when I planted my garlic in Oct. This year I my boys are helping out and raking or bagging the grass for me. I have a pile that is 4x4x4 and they are started a new pile for me. I am planning on putting in 4 piles in corners in the garden. I am so excited!

Good for your boys Dorie! Are they interested in gardening at all?
My boys helped me in the garden ( willingly ) and I had visions of them becoming passionate gardeners, but it didn't take.
Maybe it's a dormant seed and one day they'll revive it .

Awesome! I finally got my husband hooked on it so much that he rakes after he mows, not because I ask him too but because he fills the compost pile and he gets over joyed about it.

The DD knows what's compostable and she also takes the tops of her carrots she snacks on, the banana peels or whatever she has in hand in the yard and throws it in the pile and not in the trash. She's just as awesome with things that are recyclable going in the recycle bin! Kids are so great because they see the big picture!!!!

They aren't that interested in gardening but do help me with the big stuff. They are very interested in eating so they will help till or carry a watermelon when necessary.
