I didn't expect to get any flowers on my chayote vines till the weather warmed up in late Spring but they are surprising me by blooming now even though the weather is quite cool. I don't know whether or not any fruit will set but I've got my fingers crossed. The nice thing about growing your own chayote is that you can pick them at 2 or 3 inches when the skin is still tender so they don't need that tedious peeling. the ones in the markets are actually past their prime.
