Hi there! :frow

I can't believe the difference a few days of decent warm weather makes -- it always surprises me. This last week the nights have been much warmer & now my tomatoes are setting, my sweetcorn is shooting up & I actually ATE some courgettes last night & I have lots more coming. They were delicious! :celebrate I first grilled chicken thighs with masses of herbs, having marinated the pieces of chicken in lemon juice, sesame oil, Worcestershire Sauce & a pinch of powdered bouillion powder. I used garlic chives, parsely, thyme & rosemary along with fresh ginger root. After they were about 3/4 cooked I added the courgettes & a couple of (bought) large tomatoes & finished grilling everything. Then I added lots more chopped parsely & ordinary chives just before serving. I just had it with wholemeal seedy bread & a glass of red wine.

It was SO GOOD! :ya

I love simple food like this & the bread was great to mop up the gravy. I made enough to have some cold for lunch today with salad from my big bowls of leaves I'm growing.

[ Edited to add that I followed this with a bowl of my fresh raspberries with a dollop of thick double cream.
What more could you want?]

Mmmmm, Hattie, that sounds delicious!

I've got peas. My favorite garden veggie of all is fresh peas, mainly because the season is so short, even shorter than fresh corn, my second favorite. The beans are up, the radishes are past, I've got to plant a second crop of lettuce. My summer squash, peppers, eggplants, they're all sulking out there, not growing much with all this rain, but today they're supposed to get a fair amount of sunshine before it rains again, and I think tomorrow is supposed to be decent, too. Warm, sun, things should start to go now, although we're back in the low 70's this week, not quite enough heat for the eggplants.

Hi Ann!

I have had peas & broad beans for a couple of weeks but they are Spring veg to me. Now, my Runner beans are definitely Summer veg -- they are in flower now so it should not be long.........!!

The tomatoes are growing so tall & fast -- I have a forest of them in pots ( about 50....!!! I have gone too far. I didn't expect such a good germination rate. It is all rather "over the top" -- still never mind, I can preserve them & give them to friends etc. The people I volunteer with at the charity bookshop will enjoy them & they have been bringing me in various plants for my garden so at long last I can give them something.

I hope your weather gets warmer -- I was fascinated by the weather link you posted -- I wish ours were as detailed. Where I live we seem to have our own micro- climate, quite different from where I used to live, which is only 1.5 miles away!! We get much less rain but more wind.

Have a wonderful weekend & enjoy your beautiful garden!
