Joe always gets all the good stuff! This time my hubby brought this all home for me. :D

My husband helped his best friend's mom move yesterday. She had several things she wanted to give to her daughter-in-law... however, her DIL is not a fan of old things and prefers new and functional. Not very creative girl... than again she's 22... she'll regret this later!

Anyways, so her back up was to give it to me through Brian who is like her second son. So I ended up with an old wooden Ironing board, water fountain (going to the front porch), a cute chicken plant stand, and an antique singer sewing machine with folding sewing table. She just had the sewing machine cleaned, oiled and fixed 3 months ago because she was planning on giving it to her DIL who said, thanks but no thanks!

How awesome is this?! :D

I am planning on trying to convert the ironing board into a garden table for me to work at out in the yard. I need to paint some and treat the wood to survive the weather.

Too cool!! I love those old ironing boards. I will be watching to see what you do with it. I have 3 of them in storage, waiting for inspiration...I wanted to use them for plants in the house, but I just don't have room. Enjoy all your great finds!

I think it will be great to use in the garden as a potting table. I'm thinking of drilling little holes in it for drainage. Then maybe shalque it? (sp?)

I'm going to hang on to it as is and use it to serve Thanksgiving hour'de vous since I'm lacking counter and table space this year.

But when Thanksgiving is over its going to be useful OUTSIDE! ;)

Congrats on your antique treasures, vfem!

Those old Singers are the best! They plow through anything!
So many of the new machines are whimpy and always in the shop, plastic parts that wear out, like so many other things now days. Great find!!

HiD ... LOVE your ironing board snack bar idea! Got to see it I can track down my grandmother's old board!
I'll bet someone has it stashed in a closet somewhere... knowing this family of pack rats I am a part of..
I sew and iron a lot, hopefully it will look creative and I won't get a pat on the head... too funny!... :gig
