My Wife, the Gardener

She dug the plot on Monday, the soil was rich and fine.
She forgot to thaw out dinner so we went out to dine.

She planted roses Tuesday. She says they are a must.
They really are quite lovely, but she forgot to dust.

On Wednesday it was daisies, they opened with the sun.
All whites and pinks and yellows, but the laundry wasn't done!

The poppies came on Thursday, a bright and cheery red.
I guess she really was engrossed; she never made the bed.

It was dahlias on Friday in colors she adores.
It never bothered her at all, those crumbs upon the floors.

I hired a maid on Saturday; my week was now complete.
My wife can garden all she wants; the house will still be neat.

It's nearly lunchtime Sunday and I can't find the maid.
Oh no! I don't believe it! She's out there with a spade.

That is great Steve.

For a while there DW was working and I was home all the time.
I would get in trouble I would work all day in the yard but inside I didn't do a thing. :hu :tools :mow :watering :love :duc

DW and I are the team . . . I'm better with the spade (but mostly because she's short ;)).

She's more willing to do housework. I do wash the tub after a bath - more than I can say . . . well, anyway.

My program is to not make a mess . . . you know, eating off a paper towel, over the sink, outta the pan . . . .

Dishwashing? I've got this rash on my hands, see?

Right now she's doing some spot-cleaning on the carpet near the back door. It was stuff she told me to carry out and I tried (hard) to get it out! Of course, I carried the carpet cleaner upstairs from the basement and I'll carry it back down there in a few minutes. (I was raised to be a gentleman, after all.) But, if I hurt myself on those stairs . . . . there's some nice apples in the kitchen that would make terrific pie!

My husband was just giggling over it and completely understand... other then the fact, dinner is always made and the laundry is always done... and I manage to get my daisies growing, and a new tree here and there! LOL

If only I could get my DH in that program!

Hey, great poem! I should frame it on the wall, 'cause that's me (ie...dust can wait, tomatoes need picked and canned).

Thanks for sharing!

I love it!
You can clean your house all year, you can't garden all year.
That is a good quote!
An instant classic!

To be honest I am not sure I would want anyone poking around in my garden. I am happy to be the only Gardener here, and cook, and maid, and handyman, and chicken/rabbit keeper, and dog walker, and grocery shopper, and, and, and, ... yikes, I guess I said maid! :barnie

Oh yeah, the carpenter, the plumber, the all around maintenance man! :bee

Uggh, whose butt needs my attention around here now? LOL :tools

Best be wondering what is for dinner tonite! Funny how it just doesn't seem to appear on its own. :gig
