I decided to grow onions and garlic but I have never grown them before....is it best to plant in a big bucket like a round #10 wash tub? or in the garden....I am afraid they will get lost in the garden....
well I have nothing planted in my garden yet and if I plant them in there and then plant tomatoes and okra and cukes I am afraid they will get covered up.....my garden area is about 50' X 30....I think I need to learn to outline my garden better
I'd just "block off" an area of the garden that would be away from "vining" veggies and plant them there.....sort of like what you would do with an "herb garden" spot in the garden.
I planted my garlic in 1 quart containers, one clove per. So far, excellent results.
Planted onion sets in tubs, wanted small onions so planted the sets 3" apart. Didn't lose one, and am using them already in cooking. Mild and delicious.
I think its best to plant in the garden but this is the wrong season for planting garlic, that usually gets planted in the fall and harvested in the summer.
Can you put a wood frame around them in the garden to keep them organized?
