Thinking about planting Salita since its a VERY bold color. What other colors would you plant around it? A rich royal purple came to mind first but I'm open to suggestion. Not even worried about plants themselves or varieties, just thinking in broad terms of color.

Kicking around ideas for next spring if I can get things done in time. So what do you think?

In case your wondering this is what I do when I'm relaxing. I daydream about possible future planting :D

Purple would be the most striking color to combine it with. (Blue also) Then you could stay with Reds and yellows to make it a HOT bed! The moss rose comes in yellows, reds and oranges (as well as pink and white.) They would stay low for the front of the border and bloom all summer with little care. What a fun way to spend idle time. Sweet Dreams Jared77.

You can never go wrong with white, especially to temper an eye grabbing color. That's a pretty rose btw!

Smaller blooms of a a lighter tone would be pretty scattered about to pull it together. There are Geums that would be nice with the Salita.

I like it since its got a real WHAM! factor to it when it blooms. That's why I thought a rich bold purple would stand up to such a strong color. Kind of a fight fire with fire thing there. But after purple I was struggling. If I did yellow it would have to be a canary yellow. A lemon I think would just look washed out. Right?

So many of the reds I've seen are darker (which I love too) but I think they'd be lost when viewed from farther away. Lot of the pinks I looked at were not dark enough and I'm afraid they'd be washed out or if they were a darker pink they got too big for the space I'm working with. I was really set on a rose since they bloom so well for so long if cared for.

This rose would be going in an area that would be mostly viewed from a distance. So with such an intense color I kept coming back to it as what I think I want there.

I'm still learning how to use color effectively and creating harmony. Its never been a question of keeping them alive its usually "what was I thinking planting those two next to one another?!"
