I couldn't help it. Was at TSC and found Amberlinks for $.99. I bought 6. That brings the flock to 10 Cornish Cross, 6 Black Australorps, 6 Amberlinks and 4 Red Sexlinks. TSC had more Cornish Cross in too. I'll be watching those closely and see if the price drops again. If it does, Katie bar the door.

I'll post some more pics tomorrow.

Somebody better reign you in. The backyard chicken forum calls it chicken math. Need 1 like 2 get 12. My kids always tell me that if it weren't for my husband I would be one of those animal hoarders.

Well, my original plan was to order 25 meat birds and 15 layers. I'm at 16 layers, minus any roos in the mix of 'lorps, so I'm still under quota :D

Monty, my friend, you've got it BAD... And I'm sorry to say that chick fever is a progressive and incurable condition...

Monty, maybe if you could spread out the timing of baby meatbird purchases so you have one at its prime age for each planned barbecue. Just a thought. :p

Oh! Another idea! (shoot, my coffee is kicking in early...) Maybe if you had a few chickens to do breeding you might not have to purchase the chicks, plus, you might come up with a new cross for meat chickens, or, some cross that might grow a bit slower so you can time them to the barbecues easier...

Heck Marshall, we have the new Foodsaver! No need to time anything. I do love some BBQ chicken, but I don't make it as often as you would think. I more excited about the eggs because I make a lot of ice cream in the summer. My recipe calls for 18 eggs for one gallon of ice cream.

BTW, who plans BBQ? I cook out year-round!
