:barnieOh dear, we have done things like that so many times. DH actually had to remodel around the opening for the current one to make it fit. It fits very tightly :( Probably NOT a good thing.

Truly sorry, they are ALL bigger than they used to be. Mine barely fits and you have to close the basement door (in front of it) when you want to clean it bc the door won't open wide enough.
Since you have to return, here are my 2 cents. Buy a Frigidaire or Whirlpool. That's (the former) what ours is at work. We bought it from the owner/friend of ours when he moved out--he is a State Farm Agent and they got him a better office--for $200.00 flat. NEVER had a problem with it until last month when something burned out. Cost $180.00 to fix and THAT was the repairman's advice bc they are the only ones that last.
