A friend of mine is giving me 10 strawberry plants today. I have done some reading on here and on the web but this has caught me off guard. I am not really prepared. I didn't want to put them in the ground, but I don't know what kind of containers would work best. I have a few raised beds, but one doesn't really get any sun and I need the rest for other veggies.

As for soil, a mixture of dirt, compost and peat correct? How much water do they like? Would containers be crazy to do? Ack!

I really enjoy growing my strawberries in a strawberry pot. You know the ones with several openings on the side of the pot, as well as the top?
If you don't have one, I can't see why another kind of container wouldn't work. You will have a bigger harvest if you plant in the ground. Good luck! Happy Gardening!

You sure can put them in containers, especially since you're just getting a few. Make it easy on yourself. :)

You have to water them more frequently when they're first planted until they get established. Go easy on the peat because it is acidic.

ETA: and :welcome !

Welcome! :frow

I can't really respond to your question, as this is my first year for s/b myself, so... :pop! ;)
