You know what? I don't really think that way :).

Honestly, I think everybody really wants to be a gardener, they just don't know it :).

My mom once said that I was a little naive ... I already knew I was a little native but figured about the rest, she just wasn't very well informed. This is probably what my kids now think about me.

Sorry to burst your bubble, digitS', but not everyone wants to be a gardener. My daughter is a good example. She does get plants from time to time -- for show out front -- but she slowly kills them and gets new ones to replace them. With her double-sized yard, the only in ground plants are extra hardy perennials that will survive without her attention. I suspect they were put there by the builder.

I still find it hard to believe that I raised such a Yuppie!

Almost nowhere on Earth are there sufficient food animals &/or wild plants to support the current human population.

Hunger is a primary motivation.

Therefore, everybody wants to be a gardener, whether they have the skills or recognize the desire at any given moment.
