Has anyone grown this cantaloupe "Noir des carmes"? I was just wondering what to expect with this melon. I already had a little surprise. The leaves are crinkled, I didn't expect that. By all the descriptions I read, this is supposed to be a wonderful eating melon and I was just wondering if anyone can give me a first hand description or even 2nd hand. Thanks

According to my records, I grew them during the summer of 2012. DROUGHT took everything! I was lucky to get carrots from the store home before they dehydrated that year.

I had gotten five seeds from a trading friend/group I'm in.

Like all melons if they do not receive too much water before ripening they are quite delicious.

That is good information to know. I planted Crenshaw melons and after just sitting there and doing nothing, they decided to grow and are spreading out and blooming. I will try to strike a balance between over watering ( impossible to do in my pure sand soil and Texas heat) and the vines curling up their toes from drought. I am just thrilled they are growing, if I actually get a melon it will put me over the moon!

Here is a picture of the leaves. I love the crinkled leaves. I have high hopes for this melon. I had to do a replant and I am very excited to get anything.
