Yesterday I noticed that one of the pumpkins was looking a little limp, but I attributed it to it being so hot, even tho all the rest of the plants looked rather good. This morning I go out and it's dead. :hit

Monkey is going to be heart broken!

I haven't pulled it yet, but I'm sure it will be done today before we head to Charlotte to see my sister. It was probably a vole. I noticed that they've been digging around. Strange how they dug right through the corn but they're all still alive and kicking... lets hope they stay that way!!! :fl

Shoot! They looked so good! Check around the stem, when you pull it. It might have been infested by vine borers. They get into the stem, the plant looks limp- and then it is gone. I am going to doubt voles would kill the whole plant... but, you will know when you pull it and check the soil. That is so disappointing!!! If you have more seeds- just plant them. Even if he doesn't get a huge pumpkin- he'll still get something. So sorry about that!

well... we pulled it. Nothing looked wrong with it at all! So... I really don't know what happened. :(

We still have 2 more that are already producing pumpkins, and then he planted 2 more that are already starting to get big as well. So... hopefully he can still be in the running for the giant pumpkin contest! ;-)

The stem looked absolutely fine-down by the base??? That is a mystery!

I'm so sorry!

If it makes you feel any better we had hail AGAIN and I lost another tiny pumpkin to hail damage. So frustrating.

so I CAN remove it and the plant will survive???? Well that is interesting! I'm going to have to try that! It's already turning yellow... do you think it's too late?
