Wish me luck, I have to pick up a bag of compost and the daughter wants flowers for her garden (pansies should do well for us now).

But going to see if there is anything special I can find. Because as my husband says "I can't leave well enough alone!"

Leave any credit cards or debit cards home. Leave the check book too. Just bring the exact amount f cash you need for the trip or you will regret it.

I call this the "Hobby Lobby Strategy" :D

;) Yep, I agree with wifezilla. You might get carried away too much when you see what they have at the store. But then again Spring's coming so, you should enjoy shopping for the garden.

I had someone pick up me a bag of mulch and topsoil, I think sometimes its better to get what you need in person. Not sure how this red mulch is going to look with all the plants, I really do prefer the straw-colored and brownish mulch they have at home depot. That color goes with the green of the plants much better.

Enjoy vfem!! :) , let us know what you picked up.

Oh no... we came home with more starter pots, 3 bags of compost and 8 plants my daughter picked out for her garden to get her started. She wanted snap dragons, pansies & something I can't even pronounce but it was cute.

She actually told me she want red, orange and yellow plants specifically because they were the start of the rainbow. We got home and went straight to work. So now its done (except mulch) and we even moved 5 cone flowers over to the back of the bed to give it some height. We left one open space for a tomato plant just for her to take care of herself.

I've never seen a 4 yr old so proud of her work... and she really did do all the digging with a little help from mom. She also learned how to remove the plants from the pots correctly and carried all the transplants over. She arranged them how she wanted them to go before we put them in, and she did pretty good mama only had to move 2 around.

I need to get pictures when we go back out. We still have some chickens to move and coops to clean. One nice day comes along, and I got more work then I know what to do with!

Here's the final planting. We'll mulch later and this will fill in nicely!

Very cute. But since I love bright colors for the garden, I would paint that playhouse in bright colors! I know, you already have enough to do. :/

Oh I don't have it in me right now. We tried to paint it to match the rest of the stuff in the yard. The coop is a pale, earthy green w/ brown trim... and our house is beige (remember we resided it and it took a year!). So we figured the brown trim & earth watery blue went well with the pond.

It is much lighter then the picture shows since there is a shadow running across it, and I only used my camera phone.

We're done cleaning coops, and now I'm thinking about moving some yellow cone flowers to the back since they are taller then the purple ones I moved. Her garden is going to look so much better then any of mine at this rate.

Looks good vfem ;)

I bet your daughter will have a lot of fun gardening with you. She's not wasting any time planting, thats how to do it!

Is that a pond in the picture? Wow that's quite nice :)
