So I was searching for my old seed packs and looking over the new ones we bought. A few of them said to start indoors now! And when I did go to plant the Peppers, the packet is empty!? No idea what happened to them. Last year, two pepper plants grew in the garden, not too many peppers, maybe 8 total.

Anyway, I ordered the bags and they should be here in a week or less. Put some Tomato seeds into 12 holes for now to get them going. Seeds take 4-8 days to sprout here, so it should be ok and if any fail, I have more in the pack.

I'm missing some packets from the other years, still looking for them. I also saved seeds from Halloween pumpkins. We will be planting pumpkin and cucumbers all over the place and fence off pasture so my horses and sheep won't eat them. The Cukes grew amazingly easily last year and we made pickles! According to my family, fiance and I, they were THE BEST pickles ever! Lol, so we are hoping to go a little cuke-mad this year! My fish also eat the fresh cukes, they love it far more than the store stuff, too. I used to not eat the skins off pickles, but our home made ones I eat them all and they are so much better. We bought a store jar of pickles the other week, so gross! We also got a "bread n butter" jar, *gag*. I mixed the powder packet I had bought to make those pickles in the hog feed. The store jar of pickles also went to the hogs!

Much of the stuff I'm growing is to help feed our animals.

Anyway, I didn't realize NOW is when I need to be "staring indoors!"

:D

So exciting!

don't worry about the cukes. especially if they are the ones that take only 50+/- days. you can plant those directly in the ground and they should do fine without being started in the house first. as long as you are beyond your frost date of course! the peppers i think you should have some leeway with those.

do you happen to know your average last frost date? if you go to JohnnySeeds.com you can click on one of the links to find out your start date ranges for each type of veggie or flower you might want to start. http://www.johnnyseeds.com/e-PDGSee...ge&utm_campaign=SSCalc_022013&utm_content=txt

The cukes grow the easiest, my favorite for sure.
Corn gave us heck last year, out of the whole new packet, only 7 or 8 stalks grew.
I have no idea when our first or last frost is. :/

October 15th & April 15th according to- http://organicgardening.about.com/od/organicgardening101/a/frostdatechart.htm
Which is funny, since my fiance and I want all important dates to be on a 15th. Both our birthdays are on a 15th[July & August] and our wedding with be on May 15th. :D

heh, my last frost date is on/around May 13th, so your start date for peppers is probably around March 1st. so i don't think you're as late as you think. :p good luck!

Yep, keeping those seeds organized sure gets important! My bean varieties are now becoming critically important to organize.

Several years ago when I moved from Montana back to california i did it so disorganized that one of my 3 boxes of seeds got left behind.

Orgazination is very important!
