We had a nasty storm come through here yesterday dumping rain and hail, tons of wind and lightening/thunder. As if that wasn't enough to create havok in my garden, this morning I woke up to a nice, heavy frost! Can't wait to get home tonight and see how my baby tomatoes, squash, bush beans, and herbs are doing. :fl Thankfully my carrots haven't broken ground yet, so maybe they are ok? :barnie

Oh no, hope they made it! :fl Was it an unusually late frost for your area?

Skeeter is either relieved and promptly dozed off in the Lazy Boy

. . . or, she is upset and doesn't want to talk to anybody!

I am familiar with these emotions, as they relate to frost. After a few seasons, probably every gardener is.

We had frost the other morning on 5/5 which is very late for our zone. I believe the normal last date of frost is 4/21 for our area. It only got down to 39F but there was frost on the garage roof when I went out as well as on my windshield. Fortunately the ground was still warm from days of sunshine so the garden wasn't harmed at all. Strange weather. At least I'm not down where I grew up near Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I feel so bad for those poor people who were in the path of that monster storm.

I covered up my newly-sprouted bean plants, they were the only ones I was worried about. Everything came out okay. :D

Well, I got home really late last night, then again tonight, so I haven't even inspected the damage yet. If I can manage to get home at a decent time tomorrow night I will hold my breath and head for the garden. In the meantime I'm going to pretend like everything is fine. If all else fails, I will just have to buy some babies at the store and plant them in place of these veryspecialstartedfromseed babies. . . sniff, sniff :plbb
