I was stupid when I ordered seed this spring. I ordered a 5ft vine type simply due to wanting the sugary sweetness the descritopn promised. I somehow forgot when I planted them that they would need to be trellised. Now they are starting to lay over and tangle in each other...its a pea vine knot. We strung some baling twine over them and several are reaching for it now and winding, but am wondering if I have damaged them by letting them get all tangled before doing something about it? We are going to run more twine higher up in a few more days...any thoughts?

Hi Sparkles! :frow

Don't worry! They will be fine once they start climbing -- they will recover & start flowering up the supports. One thing you could try if you want to is to try to tuck some thin branching sticks under the pea-vine tangle (just to keep it off the ground). In the UK peas are often grown on these. My neighbour cut down an apple tree in the spring & I got a great pile of them before he burnt them.........!!! :barnie

Good Luck! :thumbsup There is nothing like eating your own peas!
