Don't know if they'll be of any value but it's on barren ground and strawberries are looking good (june berrers are-just bought and planted everberrers in another tire). I've got about 1' of cow manure/straw on bottom w/good top soil on top.

My question, is could I do this w/blueberries and blackberries? I'm liking how this is turning out........less mowing, easy to weed.

Give me some feed back.

You can grow almost anything in raised beds blueberries and blackberries included. My Question is what you mean by "barren". If by barren you mean "acidic" the blueberries would do fine just being in the ground. A soil test would tell you what direction to head in as far as blueberries are concerned. For the blackberries , they are almost invasive around here, maybe someone else that has had to plant them can help. I spend most of my "blackberry" time trying to keep them under control!

This ground use to be a sand/gravel mix. Previous owners sold the gravel off until they got down to grey clay. For over 20 years it barely grew weeds. I like sitting down there (use to be beautiful pond there that is now a wet hole). It's quiet so I've planted Adam's needles, daylillies, iris's and other things I've forgotten. There are a few soft wood trees down there. I've spread some manure down there but too large of an area w/too much wet land to do much manure.

So what I've got is a base of grey clay that is much too wet too many months out of the year. When not too wet, it's too dry and barren.

so I've resorted to tractor tires w/fruits so I can munch on them while enjoying the peace and quiet.

Well the tractor tires or other raised bedding might be your best bet. Sorry I just haven't had to do any raised beds here - we're lucky to have fairly decent soil - so I don't know how best to advise you.
