In spite of it being January the olive trees are growing so rapidly it was necessary to give them a light pruning. The leaves looked so fresh and clean I thought I would Google olive leaves to see what, if anything, I could do with them. It seems that one use is olive leaf tea, which is supposed to taste quite good, and be good for your health. Here is some of what I found:
Antibiotics have been assaulted for a long time. The ones that survive mutate and get stronger making it harder to get rid of these pathogens with antibiotics. Olive leaf is a natural antibiotic that pathogens haven't had to reckon with. Remember, Olive Leaf will not cure disease but will kill pathogens that cause disease.

What Olive Leaf can do for you:
Lower blood pressure
Reduce fats
Reduce blood sugar
Decrease fatigue
Improve the immune system
Purify the body
Fight parasites
Fight viruses
Fight fungus
Fight bacteria

More to follow on this topic after I try it.

Looks interesting jack! ;)

I didnt know the leaves of olive trees can be used as a tea, If only I had an olive tree I could try and see how it tastes.
Thats a lot of good benefits to the body just by drinking the tea.

I guess you can buy leaves online. If you Google olive leaf tea there is a lot of information on the benefits. There is some medical research that indicates some additional benefits.

If I lived where you live I would have an orchard full of olive trees, however I have to deal with upstate New York and make the best of it. :)

If you are serious about getting a tree Tony will sell a single tree or a truck load of trees. The barouni olive is almost the size of a golf ball. Tony can tell you the best tree for your area in Texas.

This afternoon I placed the leaves in a dehydrator at 145 degrees for a few hours until brittle. I crushed the leaves by hand and we had a pot of tea with dinner. To make the tea I used 1 teaspoon per cup, but I now wish I added one for the pot also. The tea was steeped for four minutes before being poured. It was EXCELLENT! The tea does not taste like olives, and it was as good as any tea we have purchased at the local gourmet tea shop. My wife said "I like this tea" at least four times during dinner, and once again later after dinner. A five I like rating from my wife is very unusual. The problem being, if I keep pruning the trees to make tea I won't have any trees left. That being the case, I am going to call Dede and buy some from her. Dede is really big into everything olive. If you are interested you might check out her site.
