If you're going to plant them in a day or so just keep the roots moist and plant them right into the dirt. Wrapping in a paper towel with a plastic grocey bag tightly over it will work. Of course unwrap before you plant. If something delays you plant in a pot with good pottting soil till it grows a good set of roots.

Bare root is good, just don't let them dry out before you plant them. Also, do not let them dry out after you plant them until they have established a root system after the ground warms up. You do not want the ground to be sopping wet since that would drown the roots, but you want the ground damp.
