I adopted Penny. She is doing well; DH has pretty much taken over the daily walking, and he is enjoying trying to train her. He hopes to be able to start walking her off leash, but she is mostly beagle, and is the proverbial "nose with legs." So, I have doubts about that event.
Penny caught a field mouse today, and proudly brought it in the house. Since she killed it outside, she got lots of praise.
The Glandex is working very well on her anal gland problems. Latest vet check was great.
All in all, we are doing well with her. :love

A year already? Wow, that went by fast! Congratulations on picking such a good dog, and I think it's awesome that your husband is spending time with her. Good for them both.

Good that your DH has taken that interest and activity on.

I'm still enjoying DD's dogs. One is just a little too excited about visitors so she comes over to stay the night here, when DD has a group of friends over. Another is a nice little dog who has special needs because of blindness.

The new "big girl" lab is settling in well and no longer goes crazy barking when we show up. I think that she is coming to understand that she isn't really expected to play the guard dog so assertively. DD lives near an elementary school, just as we do. I wish all our neighborhood dogs would be good neighbors towards school kids.

Steve, my son's dog is a huge Dalmatian/great Dane (?) mix. If I come to the front door of their house and knock, he shakes the house with his barking. But if I go to the back door and let my self in, I get one or two barks. Then a thorough beating with that long hard tail. :\
DS wanted a dog that intimidates the drug-dealing neighbors in that bad neighborhood, and that's what he got!

Great news !!! I am sure since she was rescue she is micro chipped. Make sure she is if going to be off leash. Your vet should have a scanner, here local police also have them. When she is scanned get her ID nuber then call company make sure it has you registered as owner, not her old owner or rescue group. In the unlikelihood she not micro chipped have your vet do it.

One Rottweiler moved away with the owner, over the winter.

The neighbor's German Shepherd 3 doors down, obviously cannot be trusted in the fenced front yard. He shows up out there only with the owner and only a few times a year.

Next door, the front isn't fenced. Her German Shepherd bangs against the front window if he is in the house and someone walks past. After being over there for 3 years, I'm learning to ignore him barking at me in the backyard. Her Doberman leaves some of the barking to the GS and the Pomeranian is an "instigator."

She is, and the company is aware of the adoption. And I try to make sure she is wearing her collar with the rabies ID tag.
