onion question

while down at lowes this morning picking up supplies to clean the outside of the autoclaves, heard some voices "come this way take us home with you" picked up some russet and blue potatoes and a bunch of georgia sweet onion shoots, poor littles guys look sad and their roots are dried out

heres my question with the weather going to be not very friendly the next week or so what should i do with these onion shoots till i can plant them. want to have a good root system once i am able to plant them.
need a little advice.......

I would soak the roots and wrap them in newspaper. Then put into an old bread bag (keep open). Watch the paper for drying and mist if needed. They should last a few weeks that way.

next question once rapped in newspaper and in a bag wheres the best place to put them a cool/ warm.. light/ dark till able to plant them?

I would put them in that moist paper/plastic bag and into the fridge. It might be better with some light but getting daylight while freezing won't be good.

However, there is a memory of my advice on where to place rosemary cuttings while propagating that didn't work out for you.

I'd start by cutting back those old dried up roots, and then, depending on how big a bunch that is, I'd stick them in a can/bucket of water until you can plant.
Find a cool place to store them but don't let them freeze!!!
