Only 1 Tree With Fruit

When I checked the orchard today only 1 tree had fruit a pear. I had planted it last year label said Kieffer pear. Pear do much better then apples in my heavy clay. I looked up Kieffer pears and was disappointed they are a canning and cooking pear, not the best for fresh eating

Being best for canning and cooking does NOT exclude being a good eating pear! It merely means there are other pears that are better for eating fresh than either canning or cooking.

Don't dispare until you've given them a hearty taste test.

Or rather other pears that are not good for either canning or cooking so what's left? Eating fresh, I suppose.
