i googled and it said maybe from over or under watering? well...what is it? all my others are perfect...just this one...just need to know what its from so i can make sure the others dont get it.
i dont think its from over watering... i have a 2 tsp baby medicine dropper... its in a 4 inch plant biodegradeable pot... and i give it 4 tsp of water everyday. its never enough to make that pot get all wet or soggy looking
and its not too little for it to dry out.
only other possibility is i hurt a root when transplanting them the other day. if thats so...what can i do to fix it? also...its brand new good indoor soil...when should i if i need too..buy some liquid fertilizer, or those little grey sticks u put in soil? I know the soil comes fertilized
so im guessing not for a few months? but like i said...im guessing...

also...all of the wildflower seedlings will be planted outside in june. also the columbine, marigold, painted daisys will go outside then... im thinking I will only keep the coleus and the double impatiens in pots on my balcony because i was told those will do fine with only morning sun.. and how my apt sits...thats all i get on my balcony in the summer...about 3 hours of sun from 9-12.... but since i ended up with more of the coleus than I planned..I will wait to see what kind they are and keep my faves and give away the others to my friends and family
(i planted 2 seeds in each pot thinking only half would grow... out of 10 seeds in 5 pots... 9 grew..lol)

also I was told becuase we only have 1 plant nursery around where i live and its 40 min away, my friends told me if i get good at this i can probably sell some seedlings for a couple dollars..(i live on very little income)

anyway...back to my poor baby... what can i do to fix it?? also should i cut off the dead part so it doesnt spread?

Do not water every day. Water from the bottom. I use luke warm water. When the top of the soil dries out you can water again. I can tell you are excited. But, there are many plants that thrive on neglect. You're going to drive yourself crazy worrying about every little thing. Last winter I had dozens of large glorious eggplant seedlings.(No, I did not need dozens.) The best I every grew. I gave them some organic fertilizer splish splashing the fertilizer into water. Careless measuring! Over night the plants started to wilt and die. So badly that I knew there was little hope. I think one or two survived. Killed with over attention. I will plant my seeds next week doing everything NEARLY the same. If you ever see a seedling that looks sickly yank it out and throw it in the trash. You must be merciless.

Those things can be clues but the way I tell an artificial plastic plant from a real live plant when I'm in a restaurant or someplace like that is that the artificial plant is perfect. If it doesn't have brown spots, shredded leaves, or something else wrong with it, it's not alive.

catjac...when i read what you said...i must be merciless...i laughed and shook my head... my first instinct was...nooo that means i need to FIX it!! lol must be the mommy in me :) I will keep a close eye on it and see if it spreads...

and yes I guess it could be a possibility that the tip did touch the light because they were soo much taller than the rest of my seedlings when i moved them closer to the light...

they seem to have slowed down some in their growing rate as well... they were growing like 1/2 inch every 24 hours....now i dont notice as much growing....

also im thinking of gettin a better light...one that could go across the top so they arent all straining to lean over to get closer to the light.... i see lots of colored lights...but what kinda works best (cheaper the better) they are just flowers...no veggies...

altho i wouldnt mind havin cherry tomatoes on my balcony... my kids and I love those..

but thats another post... lol i dont want anymore seedlings...i have enough right now... I wasnt thinking that pretty much every seed i planted would grow....

You're doing good! See why they're called nurseries, where plants are bought? I bet it feels like you're taking care of a bunch of babies in a nursery.

Each kind of plant will have specific favorite conditions. Tomatoes will like similar conditions as zinnias. Lettuce similar conditions to Pansies.

JackB is a real expert at geowing things indoors. He's like, you know, the smart guy at it. Knows what color of lights down to electomagnetic wavelengths and kelvin thingies. Go ahead and check out some of his posts and topics for the enjoyment of it. Don't worry though, you don't have to be all scientific to do good. But there is good stuff in what he writes. I think he'd say you're doing great too!

yes it does feel like im growing little babies... my mom says its cuz my youngest child out of 6 is 8 years old and I cant have anymore children and im gettin baby hungry... so what do i do...i buy a fish tank and am breeding guppies and buy a
green house and growing baby plants.. lol which is probably why i cant just pluck out the weak seedlings and toss them...i carefully pull them out and give them thier own peat pot to grow in.... even tho it snowed another 6 inches last night..im
starting to get really excited to plant these outside and watch them bloom and know "I did that!" even tho I did read that sometimes they dont bloom the first year, but the fact that I started them so early i read it gives them a better chance of blooming the first year

SIX kids???? Yes plant flowers!!!And you still have all this energy to nurture flowers! Wow. Let yourself worry less about flowers than you do your kids. It should be fun.
