When I saw your title, @Nyboy, I thought it was going to be "28 miles from my weekend home" . Too bad it's not, because she could have you grooming her dogs, too!

Well, I thought it was that Oprah "bought the farm."

I'm not wishing anything bad on her. What an example of a "local weather girl makes good!" It's that approachable personality and her common mortal approach to most everything. I'm sure it was difficult for her as a young person but the stars must have aligned with that personality, intellect and those ethics ...

Even her yo-yo weight, she capitalizes on! So ...

Oh, my ex was born in Santa Maria. I can assure you that everything in Santa Barbara county isn't dripping with $ ... or, at least, it once was not.

Steve, Santa Barbara county is a hot place now. It's expensive and you're buying location. Her new farm is not all that great for $28 mil. House has only 4 bedrooms. But it's right next to her current or old place, so I'm sure she wants to expand her land holdings there. If it has ocean views then I guess it could be worth $28 million. You also find beautiful weather there.

Pre-Ronald Reagan ...

My impression was that north of his ranch it was agriculture and oil wells. South, were the movie stars.

But, my compass has spun in wrong directions in the past. Know down from up - keeps me outta the trees.
