We have been here at this location for almost two years. We have my stuff, my husbands stuff, his parents stuff, and we are running over even though the house is fairly big with a full size basement and two car garage. I cannot get my car into the garage, in fact, can't get near the garage because of stuff. We started building a barn/storage/workshop several weeks back. We did the framing ourselves until it was time for the trusses 15 feet in the air. I am 62 and he is just a couple years younger and both afraid of heights, SO, it became a very wise decision to hire someone to help. The result is, as they finished today their part, that we can at least use the barn for some storage and I think we can finish the building over the winter for our use. Maybe someday I will actually get to put the car into the garage! We will have a place to store the camper, tractor, chicken supplies, bee supplies, and his collection of Gravely tractors/parts/attachments, and he will have a place to take them apart instead of the middle of the garage or driveway.

I grew up in Campbell County and used to visit relatives in Jamestown. I'm surprised you found land as flat as that looks for the barn in your area. That's beautiful country but relatively flat useable land is not real common.

You're right to be proud of that barn. When I moved here, I closed off the front of a 12' x 60' loafing shed, put a chicken coop on one end of that, and have a good place to keep the equipment out of the weather. Your barn looks a whole lot nicer than what I have. And I'll bet your view a couple of weeks ago was fantastic with the trees turning.

Ridgerunner, yes it has been very pretty around here. In fact, the Bradford Pears are still very pretty. I made the following picture while walking Wednesday morning.

Lots of hills around here. We are a few thousand feet from the lake so hilly for sure. Our 4 acres are mostly gently rolling but right behind the house is downhill all the way. I have lots of friends and family in Jamestown, now that is rough acreage!

I am taking a break from moving things in the barn today. I hope by the end of the weekend my driveway won't look like Sanford and Sons, my garage next!
