The last few years, I have seen patio rugs displayed in the big box stores. Does anyone here have a rug on their patio or outdoor sitting area? What happens when it rains? Is it like a straw mat? Wouldn't it hold moisture and get moldy?

I have recycled two indoor rugs, both 4' x 6' on my enclosed, screened in, but NOT heated front porch, which faces east. The first one wore out after 10 years, and the second one was left by my DD from what she used in her dorm room.
Indoor/outdoor carpet is the very best to use, because it WILL get rained on. Still, I wait to sweep it until we have had a few really dry days, and one of my dogs loves to lay on it when she keeps use company. :D
Btw, the first one is NOW in my cubby hole attic space that I floored 18 months ago. I bought two wild looking 4 x 6 rugs on clearance for $5/each for the bulk of the area--you have to crawl in there--and the oldest rug is at the end. Turning MORE AND MORE AMISH!

My sister has a straw mat type rug on her covered deck. It doesn't stay long enough to get worn out, she redecorates often. Myself, we just built our screened porch and I won't have any kind of rug on it. It would fill up with sand in no time.
