finally got around to calling building inspector. My GFCI outlets are bad. Bought them a year ago. His first question upon inspection was, bought them from Menards didn’t you. Guilty. They work when installed but stop working a while later-couple of weeks. He has seen it at other work sites. So I’m going to take them & talk to manager. They should be aware of this problem. Should have been a recall.

So, what say ye? Will they replace or tell me too late?

It might depend on how loud your voice is when complaining and show many people are in the store.

sorry seed they will say....:lol::lol::lol::lol:
question do remember who made them/the brand?

"hubbell" mades some good gfci receptacles, of course can only buy commercial grade working in a industrial environment... one thing i have learned dont go cheap on any electrical component<s>.. spend the few extra duckets .... you will have a piece of mind knowing you not going to burn down the house or get electrocuted.

A year ago? Not likely that you will get sympathy or money back. But I agree, they should be told that what they are selling is a failure.

That is what I expect. Will reach out to the manufacturer as well. I want someone to admit that they are rejects. Think I’m done with Menards if that is their response. By selling electronics that they know are defective, should make them liable. According to inspector, if I would have grounded it with my body, I’m a dead man.

Wow... thanks for posting this. I was just getting ready to buy some GFCI outlets to wire into the patio, and would have purchased them from Menards. Could you post the manufacturer of the defective receptacles? Guess I'll get them from True Value now, but just want to make sure they don't carry the same ones.

I don't know Menards, their policy, or how regular a customer you are. After a year I would not have a receipt, again you surprise me.

My first attempt would be Menards but I would not expect a lot. After that I'd try to contact the manufacturer. I don't expect a lot there either but I've already been surprised once today.

I'm going to say that they will give you a store credit - and they will say something like "Yep, get these back at least once a week."
