A client came in with her demon spawn. While I was talking to the lady I could see out of the corner of my eye, her 10 year old brat sticking her paws though the bars of the parrots cage. I said please don't tease my birds, they bite. The little monster looked me dead in the eye and said I am not touching them. I almost called her a lair but thought better. When she thought I wasn't looking she started trying to poke my birds. I said Bad Seed your going to get bit and it hurts. I went back to filling out paper work on their dog when there was a loud scream. The little demon was crying holding a bleeding finger. Mother looked at me and said you gave her 2 warning, sometimes a child needs to learn the hard way !! Is it wrong I am smiling?

Even with the double warning, there are parents who would be angry with you and defend their precious little imps. You are lucky. . . this time.

I'd seriously suggest putting the birds where they cannot be 'teased' with tiny fingers. Perhaps behind a glass partition?

wrong to smile at this? no...... sadistic......maybe......:p

maybe this mom has learned that she no longer gets any sympathy for her brat. so she finally just lets the kid experience as a form of punishment for not listening to what was clearly brought to the kid's attention not once but twice.

PWS, since you do MS's dogs, you are good and she knows it. She won't discipline her child (probably from reading too many Spock books) and she doesn't want to not use your services. So she took the gutless way. Put a sign up that birds bite, and too not get close.

I would have no problem smiling.

Wrong? Not at all! Thankfully Mom was on your side. Too many parents never blame child and point fingers at others. A taller perch and sign might be helpful. Sure do not want any law suits. I say give the bird some extra treat tonight. ;)

I can't stand bratty children, but I hate the parents worse. I learned a long time ago, speak up, tell child to behave then tell parent to get their child under control.
