I planted my peas on March 17 and have a wonderful crop of them. But they are all mixed together, 5 varieties. I planted some sugar snap peas and their pods are delicious, but I don't know which ones they are. So is it okay to eat all pea pods, whether they are snap peas or not? I have been doing so, not wanting to waste any sugar snap ones, and they all seem mighty tasty, in pasta or curries. Also, it's a lot less work than shelling them. Any health hazards to eating the pods with the peas? I figure I'm getting extra fiber.

My peas transplanted just fine.

The pods of the whole peas are very stringy which could pose a choking hazard. Nutritionally I have no idea.

Thanks, Garden Ornament. I must have picked them young. They haven't been stringy yet.

Thanks, Lesa, for the info. I had a whole bunch on my pasta for lunch. Yummy. I need to pick again in the cool morning of tomorrow. It's blazing hot here this afternoon.
