I just got elected to bring desert for Easter. I have several jars of peaches canned from last year and lots and lots of cream and fresh milk. I'm thinking Peach Ice Cream! :drool Humm.. now that I think about it, I've got a good bit of strawberries too.. maybe some of each. ;)

...but.. I haven't made ice cream in YEARS.
Anyone have a fool proof recipe?
I'm going to dig out the old ice cream maker tonight and be sure I've got all the parts. If not - there will be an Amazon rush order going in tomorrow

we've not had that much milk or cream to deal with, but i love peach or strawberry ice-cream. :)

as an aside have you ever considered making cream cheese? i've never looked into it myself so i have no idea how easy/hard it is to do, but it's so good for using in other things as a start... (cheese cakes being the one i like the most other than things like herbed cheese spreads and other flavors/varieties).

My friend used to make ice cream at some functions. He would buy a pre mix from a local dairy.
He mainly did that to cut down on some of the hassle of rounding up all the ingredients and cooking them down into an ice cream mix.

@flowerbug I THINK I've almost made cream cheese by mistake. I've been making super thick greek yogurt and LOVING it with a bit of strawberry puree and vanilla mixed in. As I was looking for an ice cream recipe yesterday I saw one for yogurt cheese - which turned out to be what I've been doing - straining the yogurt for several hours in a tea towel. Another recipe called for the same process - with yogurt - and called it cream cheese. o_O
I got a book a few days ago that is 19 lessons progressing from yogurt & ricotta up to cheddar & parmesan. I'm sure cream cheese must be in there somewhere.

Also anxious to try making bread with the whey. In addition to desert, I'm making ham biscuits. HOPING to make yeast rolls from scratch (using whey). I froze a bunch of ham slices from the New Years ham so - if this works - these are going to be superb
