My peaches are far from perfect. But, I am getting a ton every day from 1 old tree. They need cooking and freezing. They will be a welcome treat in the winter.

Loooove fresh peaches! They are so much better off of your own tree. :)

My peach tree didn't even bloom this year. It's several years old and has always had peaches before. Such a bummer.

Couldn't agree more. Back when I could actually get peaches off my little Hiawatha tree (before the trunk and branches got thick enough for the squirrels and chipmunks to be able to run along them and devour all the fruit before it was ripe.) Eating them always had a special thrill. It didn't matter that they at best tasted no better than supermarket peaches (Hiawatha is usually used for either ornamental landscaping (red leaves) or rootstock, so tasty fruit has probably never been all that high of a priority in its breeding history). I didn't matter that they were the size of ping pong balls. It didn't even matter that they took so damn long to ripen (it was not uncommon for it to be November before they were ready, and the flowers show up in March before even the leaves.) They were MINE.

Picking a fresh peach from my Daddy's tree when I was a kid is one of my fond memories. Nothing in the world compares to fresh fruit from your own tree.

Alas, I suspect a late frost here as well -- or the overly cold winter froze the buds -- but I got only two tiny peaches this year, no sweet cherries,no pears, and two apple trees had no fruit. I did get my first handful of plums; good, but too few.

Cat, those peaches look delicious!

So jealous! I had peaches from my tree for the first time last year...I was really looking forward to them again. Not a one! No one around me got any. We didn't have a late frost - not sure what happened. I was really surprised not only how delicious the peaches were, but how gorgeous they looked on the tree. Like decorations! Maybe next year...

I was pretty sure it didn't frost late here either, although we did have two consecutive nights of a very late freeze when the apples were blooming. I suspect the wind chill harmed the development of the buds. I never even saw any buds. I hope this winter will be kinder!
