I have a 6ft pear tree that I planted this spring. This weekend one branch had a small cluster of flowers. I thought they only flowered in spring? Could tree be dyeing?

I doubt it's a problem. After a hurricane we had many spring bloomers things go into bloom in the fall. If I recall the theory was there was a lot of rain after a drought.

I've had that type of thing happen to fruit trees, asparagus, flowering bushes, different things. I think that during drought or even just in really hot weather, some things go dormant as a way to protect themselves. When the drought is broken or the weather cools off, they come out of dormancy.

After we finally got a little rain, I've had asparagus coming up, an apple tree blooming, and one white flower come on a spirea.

I would not worry about that pear tree blooming. I think you will be fine with it.

That sometimes happens. Seems when an apple or pear tree is stressed they do that on a branch or twig or 2.

Course, the other theory is that maybe the tree is part australian, and still thinks it should flower late in the year. :idunno
