Thanks for the reminder, I need to pick the last of my thai chili's. I think I'm going to have to dry these. Pepper were super productive this year! I was even impressed with the bell peppers for once.
Last Winter I had jalapenos all the way into Spring when the new pepper plants were well along. They were pretty pooped out when I finally pulled them.
Some kinds of Peppers perennialize better than others. Serrano, Manzano, and Aji Peppers are good ones. In fact, Manzano Peppers are best started in November because they can take almost a year to produce. I used to have 2 Manzanos and 2 Ajis that grew well for three years. Ajis grow tall and upright, Manzanos spread wide.
Yes, they do look tired and even almost like they are dying after producing this time of year, but then in a month some buds start growing, and old leaves fall, and the stems thicken some. It is kind of like a semi dormancy.
