I have been gone for two days and when we got home this afternoon the first thing I did after checking the chickens was check my garden stuff. Got a dozen or so green worms off my broccoli and cabbage. Guess that will be an every day thing to do now is check the plants for the little critters and give them a big foot squashing! Never ending battle! I want to go fully organic this year if possible so will have to stay on the job!

Wow, I noticed some of my cabbage and broccoli plants are looking a little munched on, but I had no idea it could be cabbage worms already. I'll be checking leaves tomorrow first thing. :/

Do you know is there something you can spray and still keep it organic? I had read that a weak compost tea made out of worm casting helps with some bugs. I had a lot of trouble with the nasty little bugs last year and just thought I would check.

I don't know of anything! Got two more this afternoon. I am just going to keep an eye out for them. Mine are in a raised bed so can sit on side and hunt.

I wonder if diatomaceous earth works on squash bugs. And cabbage worms. Since the plants are presumably not blooming yet, it should not be an issue for honeybees.

I sure hope it does!! That's one of the things that we were going to try this year... as well as radishes... and a few other things!
