Last night I was playing with car radio when I noticed it had a phone button. I asked one of the guys at work who also has Iphone if it could be tied into car radio. He gave me that is this a joke look, then said give me your phone and keys. Took him about a hour, I am now hands free phone. Think it will really come in handy with using maps.

My phone is hands free. I never thought the phone gps would work on it.

My newest vehicle is a 1994 :) ..so no Bluetooth ability.
I keep a tall coffee mug in the cup holder and drop my phone in (speaker down) to listen to audio books, map directions, etc. The mug makes a great speaker/amplifier. I tried several versions of the little Bluetooth speakers.. somehow killed each one within a few weeks. The mug cost $2 and has been working great for a couple years now.
:thumbsup
Since I won't answer calls while driving, haven't had to worry about hands free phone yet.

I’d be good if they passed a law, no talking on a phone unless through a hands free. I see no difference between talking on a handsfree or to a passenger.

See a crazy acting driver, most of time, they have a phone pressed against their ear.

Car salesmen told a friend that if a radio goes out in a new car, probably $6,000 to replace as radio, navigation, tire pressure, etc all run through it.

nice feature of the newer Subie i got 2 years ago is this one is hands free. if i bother to connect my phone when i hop in it. my phone won't automatically connect without me turning on the bluetooth & forcing it to connect. i usually only do this on Friday nights since my mom seems to always call me when i'm driving home from work. it's also when i need to unwind & want to listen to my downloaded favorite music.

I plug my I phone into the auxiliary port and listen to music, books , or podcasts. I do have to tap the answer button to answer the phone but can talk hands free. The technology is quickly outdistancing my will to keep up with it. I have iPhone 7 it can do 10 times more things than I can figure out without a teenager lol. Progress I guess.

It IS a law in VA. I think they even bumped it up last year to an offense that you can be stopped for (as opposed to being added to a ticket once your're stopped for something else). I don't see that it's made much of a difference though.
