guess some people really like to pay big bucks for pictures we would take ourselves as gardeners. well, this spud was snapped by a well known portrait photographer who had been having dinner with a rich business person who, when alcohol is involved, decided he really needed it and was willing to pay a lot of money.

i don't know whether this is really a case of impaired judgement or a really good investment. :idunno

Well the deal was struck 2 weeks later. I sure hope he wasn't under the influence for that length of time. ;)

What?? That's not even a pretty potato! And I'm a potato lover, but that isn't a particularly inspiring pose for a spud...

I guess it's all timing and who you know.

Yeah, ya might say that I feel poleaxed ..!

I just watched a show on Biltmore. Paid for by Cornelius Vanderbilt's grandson and still owned by his descendants.

"178,926 square feet (16,622.8 m2) of floor space (135,280 square feet (12,568 m2) of living area). Still owned by one of Vanderbilt's descendants, it stands today as one of the most prominent remaining examples of the Gilded Age."

One could probably fit a spud in that home.

There are two other prints of the potato — one in Abosch’s private collection and another that was donated to an art museum in Serbia.

Well that's some good news.

and as owner of the film, or whatever they consider it with digital printing now, he has the right to re-print that pic unless there is some sort of agreement with the new owner. it's nice to know that there is more than pic out there and anyone wants to travel to Serbia they can see it anytime till it moves to somewhere closer.
