Anybody got any? but of like the whole thing not just the flowers. The ones I am finding on the internet just give me the blooms but not an estimation of size or shape. I just kind of want to know what it will look like at maturity so I can know how close to plant them.
Thanks

You and I are in very different zones- but I will tell you about my rose of sharon...Here in zone 4, it can grow quite large. However, you can trim it to any size you like. I have mine as a border to cover an unattractive fence. I transplanted from plants I got from my brother. In 4 years, these "sticks" are about 5 feet tall...If you plant them close together, they develop a hedge look...Good luck!

The pictures you were looking at aren't bad. If I get time I'll take pics of my two...and I have to pull up about 100 "babies" that try to grow a forest of them, to KEEP it at 2!!! (I pull them out in March, after a rain, after the ground isn't frozen anymore--easiest time.)
Here is what my lavendar Rose of Sharon looks like.

"The Rose of Sharon shrub is a member of the Hibiscus family. You might find it listed as Shrub althaea or Hibiscus syriacus.

The shrub can be trained into tree form by careful pruning. I prune mine in early spring. Rose of sharon can reach heights of between 6 10 feet or more. Mine is approximately 6 feet tall right now. Its mother tree is in my neighbors yard and that tree is at least 10 feet tall."

I also have a pink Rose of Sharon. They are kinda like weed bushes--SSSOOOO easy to grow. Mine are on the north side of my garage, but my mom and SIL have theirs growing in full sun. They are VERY tolerant of different soils, and will grow very tall if you forget about them. I'm about to chop mine down--they are both 5 foot tall. They'll recover.

Thanks for the advice (and the seeds) ducks. I had planted three in the front bed but then I read that they can get pretty wide so I need to remove one at least.

I love me a hardy plant I am an amazing killer of all plant life but I was able to winter sown 40+ of these. I am giving some to a few friends at work and some neigbors. As well as trying to cover up my ugly fence.

Its good to know that I can keep it pruned if I need to. Would you plant them their first year or would you wait a year. I read they don't flower into their 3-5 years. Oh how about keeping them in a pot? like a big pot? do they keep leave year round? I can't remember what the hibicus in the area does.

ANY of those things will work. No, they drop their leaves in the fall.
I seriously doubt you will kill them. I need to stack some newspaper on some that have grown by the garage foundation, and I can't pull them out. Hope I can choke them out like that. They REALLY grow as easily as mint. At least they're pretty, even if they take over.

I wouldn't remove one, until you have to. Maybe you will like it to look like a hedge? Many of my transplants (which were very small) bloomed the first year. They do drop their leaves, but hold on to the large seed pods- which make for a little winter interest...Another thing to love about this plant- the japanese beetles will not touch it!!

Awesome! I am really excited. I love the idea of a plant I can't kill. :)
