Is it safe to use composted pig manure in a vegetable garden? I have heard both yes and no, so I am confused!

Not real sure but it sure growed some nice tomatoes in my old pig pen, and even the seeds had been composted via my pig.

Why wouldn't it be good? If it's fresh, may have some problems with root vegetables since nitrogen would be a little hot depending upon how "fresh" it is.

Never use cat, dog, or pig manure in vegetable gardens or compost piles. Parasites that may be in these types of manure are more likely to survive and infect people than those in other types of manure. It is also important to keep your pets out of your vegetable garden.

Here is where I found that info... http://umaine.edu/publications/2510e/

Make sure you give your vegetables a good washing before you eat them. I don't think it will smell very good so close to your house.
