It was a very productive weekend for me. I went by Home Depot and they had started plants, since my seedlings died I bought and planted 18 broccoli, 9 butter crunch lettuce, 9 red leaf lettuce, and 1 husk cherry tomato. I sowed 2 squares of carrots, 2 squares of radish, 5 squares of spinach, and 4 squares of snap peas. I planted one 2 x 4 bed of garlic and one 2 x 4 bed of onions. I planted one 2 x 2 bed of green bunching onions. I also planted 9 buckets of potatoes.

We got the row garden tilled for the 2nd time and this weekend we will sow turnip, collards, and beets. My thighs are killing me. I will hopefully have pictures later on of my newly cleaned out beds with mulch in the aisles. It really looks good. I have 5 brussel sprouts in peat pots and I have never grew these before. Any suggestions? I thinking of putting them at the end of the turnip/collard patch in the big row garden, but wanted to put one in the raised bed and one in a bucket. Just to see if it would work.

good for you!! sounds like you will have a nice fall variety.

Beavis, do you plant for fall? If so, what and when? My garden is about due for an overhaul bit I am not sure what to put in.

I am going gung ho for the fall!

Planted radishes, mesculin, bok choy, beets, onions, fall heirloom cold-hardy tomatoes, carrots, spinach and more soon (turnips, kohlrabi, broccoli, etc)

I am doing a lot of succession planting, a little bit of each type every week or so, to see how that works.

Also, if you or anyone else is on facebook, you can follow along on my page for my farm called Harmony Valley Farms.

Good work, peeps! :thumbsup I think I will eventually get around to sowing a few things for fall, especially now that things are slowing down a little around here.

I like your FB page, Beavis, kinda like a condensed version of a blog!

My goodness you WERE busy! I can't wait to see all your pics :)

I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions about good plants to grow in the fall. I live in Sunny So Cal however, the wind here is a major, major problem. I have a raised garden bed (about 10 ft long and 2 ft wide) that I am currently growing tomatoes in. They're at the end of their life cycle and I was thinking of planting some yummy veggies for fall but I don't know what would be suitable. I am already growing pole beans, bell peppers and onions in pots.

I've heard good things about carrots and squash - any other suggestions?

Thanks!

:)
