Found a clematis I never seen before, so I had to get it. My Angel the flowers ( on Label) remind me of the flowers on tulip tree in my parents front yard. Hope it does well, zone 4. Any body have one?

A great gardener friend of mine told me plant them with the roots in the shade and the top in the sun. Of mine planted like this they are fantastic. he ones planted in full sun just putter alone year after year. She also said they like lime. a cup and the roots 2X a year. Perhaps not for your soil. Have a photo. I love tulip trees.

I don't have one of those, but no doubt it's just a matter of time.
The Sweet Summer Love you recommended and I dutifully planted :D last summer is growing like a crazy thing this year and I can't wait for it to bloom. It's definitely going to need a larger trellis built for next year. Dh will be so happy to see another building project added to my (his) list.

I have clems all over the place, full sun on the south wall to the north side of the house. Some want full sun, and others relish shade, that info should be on the tag when you buy it. I don't make any special effort to shade the roots, some of them are growing in ground cover and some aren't, but they are all doing well.

It does remind one of tulip tree flowers, but I think a bit smaller. That looks to be a very nice addition to any garden space. I don't have any of the later summer blooming clematis. Must put it on the list.
